Prompt #433: Self control

Now, as surprised as HisLordship (HL) was to be asked for the round-up again, just as surprised I was when I realized it’s already the third time I’m welcoming him back to this space. HL previously did the round-ups for week 373 (read it here) and for week 411 (read it here). A good writer himself, you can read HL’s stories on his blog, and follow him on Twitter.

Top 3 for week 432 by HisLordship

I was quite surprised when Marie asked me to have a second bash the Wicked Wednesday round-up, although I admit rather pleased to be asked! One of the challenges for this type of round up is the wide variety of entries and the lack of rules to follow. I guess this round up is purely subjective and in some cases how you feel on the day. Having read through all of the writing I can certainly say some work fits nicely with my ever changing moods. Without trying to blow smoke up anyone’s rear end, they are all good due to the amount of the writer’s personality and experiences that went into them. Thank you for giving me an excuse to ignore my work emails for a couple of hours in what has turned out be a very enjoyable and educational afternoon.

Diary Excerpts #43 & #47… Guest Post by Howie
This guest piece of writing took me into a world that is alien to me. I have had brushes with sex workers in my late teens during some world travel, however, it was the relationship between client and supplier that caught my attention and surprised me. It was so easy to formulate a picture in my head due to the descriptive detail and the sense of feeling this man had for his small window of opportunity with the experienced escort. I was left believing that she too had had feelings for him, however, well, who knows?

‘Shani’, by Elk Vilianni
What a beautiful account of a chance encounter. ‘And I’m still standing in the dark, breathless, waiting for her touch.’ What a line! This was written in such a way that it wasn’t the story pulling you along, it was the emotion. I could just imagine having all those feelings locked up inside your head similar to those locked inside the wardrobe. A lovely story.

Changing Connections by MLSlavePuppet
This reflective piece was always going to be well written, as is the wider range of ML’s work. My choosing of this writing was mainly down to the honestly of it. Being able to reflect on one’s emotions is one, however, having the bravery sometimes to lay it all out on display is completely another. ‘So when a connection like that ends and becomes unstable, it’s like getting stabbed in an old wound.’ This line describes so well the feeling of not just getting hurt, but reliving the old pain on top of the new. Loved this.

Self-control—or the ability to manage one’s impulses, emotions, and behaviors to achieve long-term goals…

Are you always in control of yourself, of your emotions and behaviors? What do you do to maintain and manage your self-control? Or do you prefer to give up control and be controlled by someone else? Share your thoughts, your experiences, or write a sexy story about control.
